Greenhouses to Garlic...and So Much More!

Dave and I (Curtis) connected over a shared passion for passive solar greenhouses, which quickly grew into a collaboration and business partnership. Our first project took on two big challenges: growing garlic in Newfoundland’s harsh climate and bringing a dormant farm back into production.

Since then, we’ve trialed and tested cutting-edge techniques in season extension, cover cropping, biological amendments, and adapting new food crops and growing methods to our local conditions.  By maximizing locally sourced fertility, science and ingenuity we've built healthy soil and tested what is possible. While we started with garlic, we have expanded our vegetable, seed, and product offerings significantly and now also offer a variety of educational workshops to share the knowledge we've built these last years. 

At Fixed Vegetables and Seed we strive to provide gardeners with locally adapted methods and gardening supplies tuned to our climate.  We offer seed, locally propagated perennials, grafted fruit trees, as well as growing supplies that range from irrigation to season extension.  We test all of the products we offer by growing things in our climate to gauge product performance.  Rest be assured, if a customer is buying a product, we have verified it works in our unique context.
